New at MMDU

एमएमडीयू में नए हैं?

Your first week in Mullana, sorted. Six things every new student needs, and where to find them in town.

  1. Get a local SIM

Carry your Aadhaar; the shop does an e-KYC with your thumbprint. A new SIM can take a few hours to start working. Ask seniors which network works best in your hostel block.

    Mobile and recharge shops
  2. Open a bank account, or find an ATM

Your fee receipts and scholarships often need a bank account. Take your Aadhaar, PAN (or Form 60), admission letter and two photos. Axis Bank has a branch and ATM in town.

  3. Find your xerox shop

You will print and photocopy more than you expect: forms, assignments, notes before exams. The shops near the gate get a queue in exam week, so print the day before.

    Stationery and print
  4. Know where to go when you're unwell

MMIMSR, the university's teaching hospital, is on campus. The government community health centre (CHC Mullana) is in town. In an emergency, call 112 or 108.

    Doctors, hospitals and chemists
  5. Eat something that isn't mess food

Chai stalls, bakeries and cafes around the market and the gate.

  6. Work out how you'll get home

Barara station is 4 km away for local trains; Ambala Cantt, 24 km, is the big junction with trains to everywhere. Haryana Roadways buses run along the Ambala to Jagadhri highway past the campus.
