About Mullana
मुलाना के बारे में
A village on the Ambala to Jagadhri highway that became a university town. Wikipedia gives its old name as Devi Garh, after the temples around it.
The town
Mullana sits in the flat, green wheat-and-sugarcane country between Ambala and Yamunanagar. For most of its history it was a farming village with a grain market. In 1993 an engineering college opened on the highway outside the village; it grew into Maharishi Markandeshwar University, with a medical college and hospital, and Mullana became the place thousands of students from across India call home for four or five years.
The market, the anaj mandi and the Mata Bala Sundari Mandir are still the heart of the village. The mandi buys wheat, mustard, maize and sunflower from farms around Mullana.
